Texas Aqua Monitor
A free public map of Texas groundwater well levels, reservoir storage,
water alerts, county water use, and mapped data centers. Enable JavaScript
to explore the interactive map, filters, and well histories.
Aquifer and groundwater levels
Explore USGS groundwater observations and well histories, with filtering
by aquifer and county. TWDB boundary layers provide aquifer context.
Readings may be delayed or served from saved data; check each observation's
date. Aquifer assignments can be inferred from location.
Reservoir storage and water alerts
View TWDB reservoir storage and a statewide ten-year comparison in gallons.
When comparable data is available, a decrease of 20% or more triggers a
separate reservoir alert. This measures reservoir storage, not total
Texas groundwater loss. Coverage and capacity changes can affect the
comparison. Alert thresholds are app-defined, not official emergency declarations.
Data centers and county water use
Explore mapped data-center locations from OpenStreetMap and county
industrial water-use data from USGS. Modeled facility water-use estimates
are not measured consumption. The map does not provide farm/ranch
distance measurements, noise safety zones, or live grid-outage alerts.
Data sources and limitations
Sources include the U.S. Geological Survey, the Texas Water Development
Board, and OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Source licensing terms apply;
not all data is public domain. Data is provisional and provided for public
information, not emergency, legal, or safety decisions. Consult the official
source for authoritative notices. The map stays free; financial support is optional.
